Baum Quartett

The „Baum Quartett“ is a quartet found in March 2016 in Seoul, South Korea. Through the intensive training over the existing individuals' talent and potential, they have already received numerous praises for their performances. The founding and current members consist of Sun Shin (violin), Onyou Kim (violin), Harim Choi(viola) and Hang-Oh Cho (cello).


In August 2016 they participated in the highly appreciated music festivals, „40. Internationale Sommerakademie für Kammermusik Niedersachsen“ and „9th Trondheim International Chamber Musik Academy 2016“ in October, where the Baum Quartet undertook a concert together with Peter Jarusek (Pavel Haas Quartet).

Their first success so far was achieved in September 2017. The Baum Quartet won the 2nd prize in „Salieri-Zinetti Chamber Music International Competition“, held in Verona. After this, they went on to participate in the „Mendelssohn Musikfestival 2017“, acquiring valuable lessons from one of the best musicians and advanced once again in their style of play.

In Februar 2018 they played Debut Concert in Hamburg Elbphillharmonie, for winning the utmost Kultur Preis, sponsored by Berenberg Bank. In July they won the Audience Prize in Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition and in September Finalist of the 1th Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition.

Recently, they won the 1st Prize and Special Prize in the “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Conservatory Competition 2020” in Berlin and the 2nd Prize in the “5th Irene Steels-Wilsing String Quartet Competition” in Heidelberg.

Many concerts, both big and small were held regularly, and they were fruitful in bringing the beauty of classical music closer to the hearts of the audience.


Currently they are undertaking Chambermusic under the guidance of Professor Oliver Wille at the Musikhochschule Hannover and Professor Günter Pichler at the Reina Sofia Music School in Madrid.
